The Game of Double Exposure

August 1, 2013

Double Exposure is a variation on the game of Blackjack. In this particular variant, the dealer's cards are exposed to whoever is playing. One would think that this would make it easier for the casino player playing; however, there are certain differences in the rules that compensate the dealer as a result. The house edge is considered to be larger than that of the traditional game of Blackjack. Despite this, it is one of the more popular Blackjack variants, if it is played properly.

The rules of Double Exposure are almost identical to that of Blackjack except as aforementioned, the dealer's cards are exposed; the deal is able to win on all ties except when there is what is known as the natural Blackjack; the casino player can only split one time; if the casino player hits Blackjack, it pays even money. There are other rules that may vary depending upon what casino, either online or off one visits such as the dealer can stand on a soft 17; any tied Blackjacks go to the casino player; the casino player cannot double following a split; the casino player can double on the first two cards; the casino player can split more than once (in some casinos) and the casino player may or may not choose to split unlike value cards such as a king and queen.

The crux of Double Exposure is that the casino player can see the cards of the casino dealer and due to this fact; the casino player loses when it is a tie. Typically speaking, the casino player is by and large restricted to doubling only on the number 9, the number 10, and the number 11. The basic strategy for Double Exposure is as follows: double with a 9 only alongside that of a 5, a 6 and a 12, a 13, a 14, a 15, or a 16; double with a 10 not in favor of the numbers between 4 and 8 and 12 and 16; double with an 11 only on numbers between 4 and 16, but not on a 10 or an 11;l and hitting what are known as soft hands until 18 is present against the dealer. In Double Exposure, the casino player can split a pair against the dealer. An example of this is with deuces, where they would split 4 and 6 and 12 and 17; with threes, where the splitting would be between 4 and 6 and 12 and 17; splitting between a pair of fours with 12 and 16; splitting between sixes with 4 and 6 and 12 and 17; splitting with sevens with 4 and 6 and 12 and 17; splitting with eights with 4-17 excluding a 9, a 10 or an 11; splitting with nines with 4-18 and standing on either a 7, a 9, a 10, an 11 or a 17; splitting tens with 13 and 17 and splitting aces with 4-16 and hitting against the number 11 and 17 and 20.

There are many online casinos that have Double Exposure games that casino players can participate in. It is important to remember that while different from Blackjack, that is what makes it all the more fun to play!
